Representing the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al-Khereiji participated in the 166th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level on Monday in Cairo. The session, convened at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat, focused on advancing joint Arab initiatives and refining cooperative frameworks to better serve the interests of member nations.
Key discussions during the ministerial meeting emphasized the urgent need for heightened coordination to address ongoing Israeli violations across the occupied Palestinian territories. Ministers also addressed aggressive Iranian actions targeting civilians and essential infrastructure in several Arab nations. Furthermore, the council examined broader regional and global developments, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining maritime security, safeguarding global shipping corridors, restoring normalcy to the Strait of Hormuz, and bolstering overall peace and stability for the region's populations.
While in Cairo, Al-Khereiji also took part in a specialized meeting of the Ministerial Committee focused on responding to illegal Israeli actions in occupied Jerusalem. This session aimed to coordinate efforts to counter Israeli expansionism, settlement activities, and forced displacement measures, all of which run contrary to international law.
