The Saudi Ministry of Commerce performed more than 20,000 inspection tours across various retail outlets, markets, and shopping centers throughout the Kingdom in August. This nationwide campaign aimed to ensure business compliance with commercial discount regulations during the ongoing 2026 discount season, which commenced at the beginning of August and is scheduled to conclude on October 31.
During these operations, inspection teams verified that discount permits were valid and prominently displayed for shoppers. Officials also checked that authorized discount rates were followed, price tags and electronic readers clearly presented both original and reduced prices, and establishment return and exchange policies were fully disclosed.
To safeguard consumer rights, the ministry has encouraged shoppers to scan the official barcode on displayed permits. Doing so allows individuals to verify the legitimacy of the licenses and inspect specific details, including the approved discount percentages, the validity period, and official information about the business establishment.
