A new traffic diversion has taken effect on November 18 Street in Muscat, affecting motorists travelling through the section after Al Mouj Roundabout and before the Airport Bridge.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced that the temporary arrangement would begin at dawn on Friday, 18 September 2026.
The diversion will remain in place until further notice.
Oman Observer reported the affected direction as toward Al Khoudh, while a Times of Oman report described the affected traffic direction as toward Al Azaiba. Because the two reports differ on that directional description, motorists should follow the temporary road signs and official traffic instructions at the site rather than rely solely on media wording.
Both reports agree on the location of the diversion: the section of November 18 Street after Al Mouj Roundabout and before the Airport Bridge.
Drivers have been asked to exercise caution, observe traffic signs and follow safety guidance while passing through the affected area.
The announcement did not provide an end date or detailed explanation for the works associated with the diversion.
Motorists who regularly use November 18 Street should allow additional travel time until traffic patterns around the temporary arrangement become clear.
Because the diversion is open-ended, drivers should continue checking official transport and traffic channels for changes, extensions or the restoration of the normal route.
