Rainstorms of varying intensity accompanied by powerful winds swept across several wilayats in the governorates of Al Dhahirah, Al Sharqiyah North, and Al Dakhiliyah on Friday, triggering the overflow of several wadis and streams.
In the governorate of Al Dhahirah, the Wilayat of Ibri experienced heavy downpours across numerous villages, including Bilad Al Shoohom, Dhahir Al Fawaris, Wadi Al Ain, Maqniyat, Al Mahyoul, Amla, Al Howmaniyah, Al Ablah, Jabal Al Sarat, and Al Balidah. This precipitation led to water flowing through valleys in Al Rassah, Al Mahyoul, Wadi Shumayt, and Wadi Al Banh, while Jabal Al Sarat and Wadi Sadab experienced smaller streams. Additionally, thunderstorms impacted several villages in the Wilayat of Yanqul, including Al Shuja, Al Muraibi, and the mountainous terrain of Al Waqbah.
In Al Sharqiyah North, rainfall occurred in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, specifically over the areas of Al Rawdah and Al Manqal. Meanwhile, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate saw rain in Harmat within the Wilayat of Al Hamra, alongside scattered showers over Jabal Shams.
Looking ahead, Oman Meteorology at the Civil Aviation Authority anticipates that cumulonimbus clouds will continue to develop over portions of the Al Hajar Mountains on Saturday, bringing a possibility of scattered rain and strong winds. The coastlines and the Governorate of Dhofar, along with its nearby mountains, are expected to experience cloudy skies with intermittent drizzle. Furthermore, weather authorities warned of potential sandstorms in Dhofar, Al Wusta, and Al Sharqiyah South, alongside the likelihood of late-night and early-morning fog or low clouds along the Arabian Sea and Sea of Oman coasts.
