JEDDAH — The Saudi Arabian Cabinet, presided over by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, has reasserted the Kingdom's determination to defend its sovereignty, protect its citizens and expatriates, and secure its national assets.
Following the meeting, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary issued a statement through the Saudi Press Agency. He noted that the council condemned aggressive actions by the Houthi militia targeting economic and civilian sites in Najran, Jazan, Abha, and Khamis Mushait, as well as their ongoing threats to commercial ships in the Red Sea. The Cabinet rejected the group's hostile stance toward the stability of Yemen and neighboring Arab and Islamic nations. The leadership directed that premier medical care be provided to those injured in these acts of aggression.
During the session, the Crown Prince updated the ministers on his recent consultations with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. These talks aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination across multiple sectors.
On regional developments, the Cabinet expressed Saudi Arabia's solidarity with joint Arab initiatives protesting Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories. The council voiced opposition to expansionist efforts, settlement growth, and forced displacement, calling them breaches of international law.
Additionally, the ministers welcomed a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany to launch a strategic dialogue for deeper coordination. The Cabinet also approved a mutual visa exemption agreement with Spain for diplomatic, special, and service passport holders, alongside an investment protection agreement with Switzerland. Furthermore, the governor of the Saudi Central Bank was authorized to pursue a draft cooperation MoU with the Central Bank of Indonesia.
On the domestic front, the council reviewed major economic and developmental initiatives. The Cabinet praised the achievements of the LEAP 2026 technology conference, which secured approximately $15 billion in investments, agreements, and initiatives targeting artificial intelligence, data centers, cloud computing, and local capacity building. The meeting also highlighted a new initiative for localizing water industries to transition the Kingdom from importing technologies to manufacturing and exporting them.
Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved judicial reforms modifying conditions and ranks within the judicial corps, established the Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Reserve under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, and endorsed an Arabic language service cooperation agreement between the Muslim World League and the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language.
