The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced that the municipal and housing sectors accumulated over three million volunteer hours during the first half of 2026. This milestone was achieved through the participation of more than 179,000 male and female volunteers who took part in 6,700 municipal and housing-related initiatives.
These initiatives, coordinated alongside municipal authorities, housing entities, and nonprofit associations, spanned multiple critical areas. Volunteer efforts focused on supporting public parks, road and infrastructure development, environmental safety, housing services, and assistance for pilgrims.
This follows a successful previous year in 2025, which saw more than 300,000 volunteers engage in various fields, such as food preservation, urban beautification, monitoring, and housing assistance.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing reiterated its dedication to supervising and advancing the volunteer framework. By empowering local entities and fostering partnerships with the nonprofit sector, the ministry aims to expand volunteer opportunities, elevate initiative standards, and enhance social and developmental benefits.
