The 22nd edition of the Sharjah Narrative Forum has concluded in Amman, Jordan, following two days of academic and creative discussions. Centered on the theme "The Short Story: From the Imagination of Writing to Reception," the event was organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It attracted over 60 novelists, researchers, critics, and short-story writers from Jordan and the wider Arab region.
The closing ceremony took place at the National Library of Jordan, attended by prominent cultural officials including Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the department's Cultural Affairs Department. Al Owais expressed his gratitude to the participants, noting that the positive engagement in Jordan supports the Sharjah Ruler's vision of expanding the forum regionally to foster greater intellectual dialogue. Due to this success, the Department of Culture is considering returning to Jordan for future editions.
Throughout the final day, the forum addressed multiple literary themes and hosted personal testimonial sessions where writers discussed their career milestones and the role of the short story in exploring human nature. Attendees commended Sharjah's extensive cultural projects, which have solidified its reputation as a hub for Arabic literature and intellect. To document the academic and creative achievements of this edition, the Sharjah Department of Culture announced that the research and papers presented during the forum will be compiled and published in a dedicated book.
