AI Use Policy

Gulf Pulse uses AI to draft stories. Humans decide what publishes.

**What AI does:**

• Drafts stories from source material (official statements, filings, wire feeds, prior reporting).
• Logs what sources were checked and when, which populates the transparency panel on every story.
• Compiles the AI Daily Brief, reviewed by a human editor before it goes out at 7:00 AST.
• Reports its own confidence in a draft or classification. That confidence is informational for the editor only — it never determines what publishes or at what verification tier.

**What AI does not do:**

• Publish anything without human review. Every story is read by a human editor, who assigns its verification tier, before it goes live.
• Decide what counts as "verified" — or contribute its own confidence score toward that decision. Verification tier is set exclusively by a human editor, who is required to independently confirm sourcing before a story is marked Verified.
• Make silent corrections. See our Corrections policy above.

**Why we disclose this:** A reader shouldn't have to guess whether a story was AI-drafted — every Gulf Pulse story is. What matters is whether it was checked, by whom, and how thoroughly, and that's what the tier badge and transparency panel are for.
