Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club finished the opening day of Round 7 of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship at the top of the team standings at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi on September 18.
Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club placed second on the day and M.O.D UAE finished third after competition across the Under-18, Adults and Masters categories in the Gi division.
The opening session formed part of a three-day Round 7 program running from September 18 to September 20, with younger age groups scheduled across the following days before the championship moves toward its final round in October.
Emirates News Agency reported that clubs and academies fielded leading athletes as they sought points that contribute to the overall team standings, making each individual result important at this late stage of the season.
The Under-18 competition highlighted developing athletes, the Adults division brought together experienced competitors in the main senior categories, and the Masters division added veteran athletes whose results also counted toward their clubs’ totals.
Several sports and institutional officials attended the opening day and took part in medal presentations, including representatives from the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, Silal Group and Mubadala.
Mohamed Haji Al Khoori said the mix of age groups and experience levels reflects the championship’s development and gives clubs an opportunity to identify and support athletes capable of progressing to higher levels of competition.
Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation said the structure of Round 7 brings together athletes at different stages of development and helps clubs evaluate progress while maintaining competitive strength across the season.
The official UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation event platform independently confirms that Round 7 is being held at Mubadala Arena from September 18 to September 20 and that the final Gi round is scheduled for October 16 to October 18 at the same venue.
The federation platform also records club and athlete results from Round 7, providing an official competition record separate from the Emirates News Agency report about the opening-day standings.
The championship’s multi-round format means the opening-day positions are not the final season result, and Baniyas leading on September 18 should therefore be described as the day’s standing rather than as confirmation of the overall title.
Later competition in the Kids and younger youth categories continued to add points to club totals, with Emirates News Agency reporting that Baniyas maintained its lead on the second day while Al Jazira and M.O.D UAE again occupied second and third positions for that day.
