AL AIN, 11th September, 2026 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, hosted a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club to assess upcoming initiatives and strategies for the development of Al Ain’s sports industry.
During the briefing, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council presented its vision to elevate the region as a premier sports hub. The delegation outlined plans to introduce diverse championships, elevate community-wide athletic participation, and bolster traditional sports. Scheduled events for Al Ain include running events, half marathons, segments of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, and a round of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge.
Sheikh Hazza also reviewed the programs of the Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club, which focus on preserving falconry as a key Emirati tradition. Furthermore, he was updated on the Arabian Saluki Championship, an initiative designed to safeguard and raise awareness of this cultural legacy among younger generations.
Sheikh Hazza emphasized that advancing the local sports ecosystem aligns with the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who views sports as a pillar of community growth and healthy living. He also advocated for the expansion of community sports to support the goals of the Year of Family, stressing that heritage sports help connect modern society with its historical roots.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in Al Ain Region; Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club; Majid Ali Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Falconers’ Club; Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Sultan Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Executive Director and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Falconers’ Club; and Rashed Musabbeh Al Manei, Director General of Al Ain City Municipality.
