Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology (NCM) on Sunday issued severe weather warnings, including red alerts, for Makkah, Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha. The agency warned that these areas could experience torrential rain and thunderstorms with the potential to trigger flash floods. Meanwhile, orange alerts were declared for moderate rainfall in certain sections of Jazan, such as Jazan and Al-Darb, alongside dusty conditions in parts of Makkah. Yellow alerts were also declared for light rain in parts of the Makkah and Eastern regions, with dusty conditions expected in Makkah.
According to the weather agency's forecast, moderate to heavy thunderstorms, hail showers, and flash floods are expected to impact areas within Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, along with highland locations in Makkah. Strong, dust-carrying winds are projected to sweep across Tabuk, Madinah, and the coastal zones of Makkah. Additionally, early morning fog is predicted for the coastal zones of the Eastern Province, while the southern portions of the region may experience rain-bearing thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Temperature projections across the Kingdom show Madinah reaching the highest maximum of 44°C, followed by Buraidah at 42°C, and Makkah at 41°C. Other major cities like Riyadh, Dammam, Hail, and Arar are forecast to hit 40°C, while Sakaka will reach 39°C, Jazan 38°C, Jeddah and Najran 37°C, and Tabuk 36°C. Coolest daytime highs are expected in Abha at 29°C and Al-Baha at 28°C. Expected minimum temperatures range from 32°C in Madinah to 19°C in Abha.
