Following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and with the oversight of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates has committed $10 million to support humanitarian operations in Haiti. This urgent relief program, executed by the Emirates Red Crescent, aims to assist populations severely impacted by the ongoing instability in the Caribbean nation. The initial phase of the response will prioritize food security, shelter, sanitation, and medical services to address the immediate needs of vulnerable groups.
The humanitarian crisis in Haiti has intensified due to escalating violence and a decline in basic services. According to international statistics, more than one million residents have been displaced internally, with children accounting for approximately half of this figure. The ERC explained that it is actively monitoring these developments alongside global and local partners to coordinate the distribution of aid, strengthen field operations, and reinforce the capabilities of local organizations dealing with complex security and logistical challenges.
