The Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities highlighted the United Arab Emirates' successful approach to fostering tolerance, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue at the "One World: One Humanity Summit" in New York. The international event gathered 250 religious leaders representing approximately 30 nations to address strategies for combating division, hatred, and violence, while simultaneously encouraging cross-cultural dialogue and universal human values.
Speaking at the summit, Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of the university, explained that the UAE has successfully turned its religious and cultural diversity into a collective civilisational strength that fosters social unity, understanding, and mutual respect. He emphasized that despite originating from diverse nations, cultures, and beliefs, the attendees joined together as a single human family, placing their collective humanity above all other factors.
Al Dhaheri further remarked that religious figures bear a vital duty to actively help establish peace rather than simply calling for it. This responsibility involves countering extremist ideologies, hate speech, and intolerance, while supporting principles that preserve human dignity. He noted that religious teachings, when expressed through justice, mercy, and compassion, serve as a powerful instrument for peace and global understanding.
As the summit concluded, delegates urged for enhanced collaboration among religious leaders to fight violence and prejudice, build mutual trust across societies, and increase joint humanitarian initiatives. The participants also highlighted the importance of addressing technological advancements and artificial intelligence challenges to ensure they contribute positively to coexistence and global harmony. The university stated that its involvement in the summit aligns with its core objective of advancing enlightened religious discourse, bridging cultural divides, and cultivating a deeper appreciation of universal human values.
