Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has issued an Emiri Decree approving the general organisational structure of the Sharjah Social Services Department.
The decree establishes the department’s overall organisational framework and gives the Sharjah Executive Council responsibility for approving the detailed structure and the measures needed to implement it.
Those implementation decisions include defining the responsibilities and job descriptions of organisational units and determining how departments and units should be established, merged or abolished in line with their mandates.
The decree follows earlier work by the Sharjah Executive Council on the proposed structure. Sharjah24 reported that the council had previously approved the proposal and directed its General Secretariat to submit it to the Ruler.
That earlier council discussion placed the restructuring within a wider effort to improve the efficiency and institutional capacity of Sharjah government entities.
The Social Services Department is responsible for areas of social support, assistance, protection and care. A clearer organisational structure can affect how responsibilities are distributed internally and how specialised units coordinate service delivery.
The decree itself does not publish the full detailed departmental chart or individual job descriptions. Those elements are to be approved through subsequent Executive Council decisions.
That distinction matters because the current action establishes the legal and administrative framework, while the practical arrangement of units and duties will come through the implementation stage.
No change to eligibility for social support or individual benefit levels was announced as part of this decree.
The next official steps will therefore be the Executive Council’s detailed structural decisions and any related administrative measures required to put the new framework into operation.
