Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC), held talks in Abu Dhabi with Okubo Takeshi, the Special Assistant to Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance. The meeting focused on the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip alongside regional and global efforts to bolster humanitarian relief and reconstruction initiatives.
During the discussions, which were attended by several FNC members, both officials emphasized the strong bilateral relations and strategic partnership shared by the UAE and Japan. They highlighted the value of broadening cooperation across various sectors and underscored the importance of enhancing parliamentary ties and coordination on mutual interests.
Al Nuaimi emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy plays a crucial role alongside traditional political and diplomatic channels in gathering international backing for the Palestinian cause. He noted that the FNC remains dedicated to utilizing its involvement in regional and global parliamentary bodies to support civilian protection, facilitate the sustainable delivery of humanitarian relief, and advocate for a political framework aimed at securing a comprehensive and lasting peace.
Takeshi outlined the actions Japan has taken to support development and recovery in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the country's collaboration with international organizations and partners. He emphasized the ongoing necessity of global cooperation to address the developmental and humanitarian requirements of the Palestinian population.
