ABU DHABI - President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the UAE youth handball team, alongside their administrative and technical staff, on Friday. The meeting took place following the squad's successful qualification for the 2027 World Championship.
His Highness extended his congratulations to the players, staff, and supporters on the milestone, expressing optimism that the achievement will bolster momentum across the nation's sports sector. He also commended the team on securing second place in the recently concluded 19th Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship. Highlighting their continental and international success, the UAE President noted that such accomplishments bring pride to the country and elevate its sporting profile. He emphasized that sports are a vital component of the UAE's comprehensive development and must align with the nation's overall progress.
The reception was attended by several senior leaders, including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region; Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Zayed for Good Foundation.
Also in attendance were Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, alongside other officials and citizens.
